I have become deeply disillusioned with the dominant paradigm of education. Most schools, EdTech products, educational research, accelerators, universities, courses, and corporate L&D, even the "innovative" ones, are built on a single narrow model of learning (classical cognitivism): humans as information-processing machines. Knowledge goes in, behavior comes out. Learning collapses into a hellish loop of content delivery, assessment, optimization, and credentialing.

I think this model is not only incomplete...it's often harmful, and it shrinks our imagination of what humans can become.

My work starts from a different premise: people are not computers. We are living organisms, embedded in dynamic environments, shaped by them and shaping them in return.

Drawing on dynamical systems theory, ecological psychology, and cognitive systems engineering, I design developmental ecologies: environments where people build 𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 expertise through attunement, intrinsic feedback, degeneracy, co-adaptation, metastability, variability, and self-organization.

At Deep Science Ventures, I apply this approach to helping scientists and engineers become venture-scale founders.

Through Exogram, I'm extending this work to the original developmental ecology: the natural world. For roughly 95% of our history, humans developed in wild places, within cultures exquisitely attuned to their environments. Exogram asks what becomes possible when we weave that deep inheritance together with the best of what civilization offers. The vision is an intergenerational learning community in wild country, devoted to human thriving through the enduring stewardship of a landscape.
